GOTTLAND receives the Europe Book Prize – Le prix du livre europeen

On 9th December Mariusz Szczygieł received the Europe Book Prize – Le prix du livre europeen 2009 in the category of fiction for his book Gottland.

This is the third edition of the prize, previous winners are Guy Verhofstadt (2007) and Tony Judt (2008).

The book was submitted by French critics who recommended the French edition, published by Actes Sud and translated by Margot Carlier.

The Europe Book Prize – Le prix du livre europeen is aimed at promoting European values, and the jury includes writers and journalists from all member countries.
