Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is our great pleasure to announce that on March 1st 2017, Polish Rights Literary Agency was acquired by Andrew Nurnberg Associates. The agency – specializing in selling translation rights to Polish contemporary fiction and narrative non-fiction – is becoming part of ANA Warsaw, who will from now on handle all existing and future contracts.

Polish Rights list comprises the most prominent authors of Wydawnictwo Czarne, inter alia, Andrzej Stasiuk, Krzysztof Varga, Mariusz Szczygieł and Wojciech Tochman, as well as acclaimed authors like Magdalena Tulli, Jacek Dukaj, Artur Domosławski and Witold Szabłowski who are published by different houses in Poland. Magdalena Hajduk-Dębowska set up Polish Rights in 2008 and has since negotiated 200 foreign deals in more than 30 territories, which is an impressive achievement for Poland. The list of authors joining ANA Warsaw will be handled by Anna Rucińska – foreign rights expert and a former fiction editor who has joined the agency earlier this year.

Andrew Nurnberg Associates Warsaw Literary Agency handles Polish translation rights for authors of Andrew Nurnberg Associates, but also works for copyright holders represented by prominent British or American publishers and literary agencies.

Magdalena Debowska:

After almost 9 exciting and industrious years, I have decided to pursue my career in publishing as co-owner of Karakter Publishing House. As many of you know, Karakter, established in 2008, is an independent publisher of quality non-fiction and literary fiction, essays, design, architecture and art.     I will continue to sell translation rights to titles published by Karakter. I hope to stay in touch with all the publishers I’ve met and made friends with throughout the years, and I look forward to discussing books and exchanging ideas with you!

Anna Rucińska and Marcin Biegaj:

We are equally happy and proud to be facing an exciting opportunity to provide a platform for selling translation rights to such an outstanding list of Polish authors. We hope to give a fresh and inspiring perspective to our authors as well as to build bridges helping them meet the best publishers in the global publishing marketplace.

As of March 2017 ANA Warsaw represents world rights to a select list of fiction and non-fiction Polish authors formerly handled by Polish Rights agency run by Magdalena Dębowska.
